Funding

Sports Premium

What is Sports Premium?

Sports Premium funding is allocated by the government and aimed at making additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport in primary school, so that all pupils are encouraged to develop healthy and active lifestyles.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on PE and sport in Primary Schools; however individual schools have the freedom to decide how they do this.

Literacy & Numeracy Funding

What is Literacy and Numeracy Funding?

The Literacy and Numeracy catch-up premium provides schools with additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in Reading or Maths at the end of Key Stage 2.  It is provided to all state-funded schools with a Year 7 cohort, including special schools, alternative provision (AP) settings and pupil referral units (PRUs).

Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds:

    • generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school

    • often do not perform as well as their peers

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.
